Some of them were from Germany, others from France; however, there were also individuals from England, Spain, the United States, Italy, and some other Asian countries. Since the 19th century, Mazatlán, thanks to its port, became an important point for trade between countries, primarily with the Orient and Europe. This was because it was necessary to supply the city with everything required for its development, in addition to the mining activity that gained prominence in the market.
All of this gradually led to the success of commerce, making Mazatlán the primary supplier for all of Mexico. Not only that, but its prosperity also attracted people from other regions to establish companies and contribute to the economic success of the port.
Until the year 1913, it was evident that multiple companies were established, producing various products such as footwear, cigars, candles, foundries, ice, soaps, carriages, beers, and much more. These ventures accumulated great wealth and contributed to the construction of diverse styles of buildings, including the baroque style.
Many of the houses that stand today remain intact since their founding, while others may have undergone slight modifications but still retain their essence and vibrancy. Since the beginning of this century, efforts have been made to rescue and preserve these historical structures.
