Municipal Arts Center

Municipal Arts Center

In its beginnings, the CMA offered classes in two buildings in the Historic Center leased for this purpose. It consisted of workshops for classical ballet, painting, sculpture, and the "Enrique Patrón de Rueda" School of Music.
In the old Mercería Alemana (on Belisario Domínguez and Mariano Escobedo streets), painting and sculpture classes were held, and at 13 Sixto Osuna Street, classes for music and classical ballet took place.
In 1990, the discipline of singing was integrated, and the formation of the Ángela Peralta Choir and the Youth Symphony Orchestra began; tasks that materialized two years later.
In 1993, the artistic activities schools, under the Department of Cultural Outreach, were consolidated alongside the Ángela Peralta Theater.
The Municipal Arts Center was born there, opening workshops for folk ballet, visual arts, theater, cinema, and literature.
