Artwalk
Artwalk in Mazatlán began with the initiative of artist Glen Rogers, drawing from her experience in California, around the year 2009. It takes place a couple of times a year with the aim of showcasing the studios and workshops of local artists to promote and boost the visual arts in Mazatlán.
The movement was well received and evolved over time. The individuals in charge of its organization changed, but always in collaboration with the 'Mazatlán Historic Center' group and the Institute of Culture in Mazatlán (formerly known as CODETUR), who have made its widespread promotion possible.
Artwalk or 'Camino del Arte' in its latest edition, 22-23, took place on the first Friday of each month and featured 30 registered spaces, including galleries, shops, and restaurants that are committed to supporting art in Mazatlán.
For the next edition (23-24), a new organization will be put into practice, in collaboration with the Historic Center and CULTURE, under the coordination of Marysol Galván Pelayo. This will involve adding more spaces, dates, and options to make the offer even more attractive and achieve greater participation and visits from our local residents. The Artwalk movement is primarily fueled by foreign residents in the port, cruise ship visitors, and a few locals.
We hope that more artists, more studios, and more art exhibitions will join us to enrich the art offerings in the city for anyone who wants to be a part of it.
Artwalk Mazatlán Camino del Arte takes place on the first Friday of each month, from November to April, from 4 to 8 pm. In the new season, we will be calling for an extended schedule from 4-9 pm to attract more local and national visitors.
