Venustiano Carranza Park is reborn with comprehensive improvements after renovations

The iconic Venustiano Carranza Park, located in the heart of Mazatlán’s Historic Center, is undergoing a comprehensive renovation project that includes the renovation of green areas, playgrounds, and lighting systems. This space, which had suffered from years of deterioration, has just undergone the first phase of restoration, with tree pruning, bench repairs, and the installation of new LED lighting. Authorities emphasize that the goal is to restore the splendor of this iconic site, which dates back to 1921.

The initiative is being promoted by the Historic Center’s Governing Council in collaboration with business leaders and civic organizations, demonstrating the power of combined efforts. As part of the innovative efforts to fund the project, a “Brunch with a Cause” was recently organized, where participants enjoyed local cuisine while contributing to fundraising. This event brought together more than 200 people committed to restoring the public space.
A highlight of the renovation is the creation of a completely renovated children’s area, which includes inclusive play areas for children with disabilities. According to testimonies gathered from neighbors, this area had become a source of insecurity, but now promises to be a safe family space. The community has responded enthusiastically, actively participating in cleanup and maintenance sessions organized by civic organizations.
The project not only includes physical improvements but also cultural programming to revive the park. Activities such as art workshops, musical performances, and community fairs are planned, seeking to turn the area into a focal point for social interaction. This strategy follows the successful model applied in other public spaces in the city, where the combination of infrastructure and activities has proven key to its preservation.
Authorities have announced that the complete rehabilitation of the park will be carried out in stages, with a total investment exceeding 2 million pesos. The next phase will include the renovation of the central kiosk, the installation of automated irrigation systems, and the placement of historical signage to preserve the site’s memory. The work is expected to be completed before the next peak holiday season.
This restoration of Venustiano Carranza Park is part of a broader effort to revitalize the public spaces of Mazatlán’s Historic Center. Along with the park improvements, ongoing security and cleaning efforts are being coordinated, seeking to create a virtuous cycle where the community takes ownership and care of these renovated spaces, ensuring their long-term sustainability.
